New year, New shoes. Trying the new Vomero 18 shoes out. Initial shoe review (after 4 runs) of my latest easy run shoes…
Like many, Christmas time means only one thing: a new pair of running shoes. And, like most runners, I have a favourite pair and get the new model each time I buy new shoes. Are they the best shoe I could buy? I don’t know. Am I going to get them every time? Yes.
But this year, I have heard so much about the new Nike Vomeros I decided to branch out and get the Vomero 18 (pictured above).
Here is my journey with shoes thus far:
When I was younger, I used to wear Brooke’s running shoes for easy running days after a gait analysis directed me to them. However, as I grew older and my running style changed, my boyfriend suggested I try the Nike Invincibles’. I found a cheap pair at the local Nike outlet store and since then, I have been hooked. Perhaps 4 pairs down the line, my latest pair was finally starting to feel worn out from months of use. During this time, the invincible line was discontinued and instead the Nike Vomero had taken its place. After hearing my friends, who were also previously Invincible regulars, love it and seeing the price was decent (particularly in the January sales) I decided to get a pair of Vomero 18’s.
How are the vomeros 18’s so far?
Having worn them for a few runs so far, I am loving them. Of course, we are only around 4 runs in so how they feel over time can’t be commented on. However, I ran 11 miles long run in them and they felt comfortable throughout. A familiarity between the Invincibles and these is present which for me, as a previous invincible lover, means they are a good pair of shoes. For when you want a bit more pace, I think these shoes don’t fare so well. Having done a progression run in them, in the later stages, I noticed the weight of the shoe and felt a little sluggish. However, this weight is what provides all the cushioning so for easy days I recommend these as a comfortable pair for when your legs are feeling a little more beaten up
